Some names were suggested; Barbara will talk with Jennifer at the conference office.
Planning for the pastoral transition: Rev. Marc Stewart, Conference Minister, distributed a “Guide to Pastoral Search and Call” and suggested sending a letter to the congregation to reassure and inform about the coming process. Also discussed were an exit interview, a celebration of Rev. Steve’s ministry. obtaining an interim pastor (the Council agreed to seek an “intentional interim pastor”) and financial aspects. The Council will appoint 3 to 5 people to work with Rev. Marc to find the interim pastor, who will then help with the search for a pastor. Barbara will work on this process until June 2019. Rev. Marc estimated the entire process will take at least 9 months, probably more.
New Business: Core Ministry Reports – Stewardship: Mary reminded committee chairs to submit expected changes in committee makeup so they can start the process of filling committee membership. Resources and Operations: Steve B. asked who has the authority to spend the memorial monies? He reported that Charter has put off the installation of internet until the end of March. Women of Mayflower: Judy announced the meeting on Wednesday, May 24, featuring Mary Helgeson.
Pastor’s Report: Rev. Steve described plans for Lenten observances and the Quarterly meeting to be held on January 21. He then offered the closing prayer.
