Council Meeting Minutes – March 16, 2017
Present: Greg Todd, Rev. Steve Gordon, June Genger, Judy Harbrecht, Mike Downing, Mary Helgeson, Nancy Rice, Tyler Bush and Sally Phillips.
Greg opened the meeting and Rev. Steve offered a prayer. The minutes were approved as previously corrected and June gave the Treasurer’s report.
Old Business: The calendar was updated. LOG deadlines are March 24, April 21 and May 26.
New Business: Core Ministry Reports – Stewardship: Mary said her committee will meet Monday to go over prospects for committee vacancies. There are still more openings. Worship: Mike noted that his committee is responsible for Coffee Hour in April. Christian Education: Nancy reported that $600 was made at the Oscars Dinner. The children are still planning to obtain benches for the playground area and will be singing with the adult choir on Easter Sunday. The last day of Sunday School is May 14, Mother’s Day. Family Fun Night will take place during the summer on some Wednesdays, to include other committees and neighborhood people. Resource & Operations: Tyler announced that Spring Clean-up Day will be from 9 to noon on Saturday April 22 which is also Earth Day. Roof replacement is still scheduled for June. Women of Mayflower: Judy announced the next meeting on March 22 will include Ben McKee from the CASA program, as speaker. Receptions are being planned for March 27, after the memorial for Danny McDade, and April 4 after a memorial for Hap Gilliland.
Other New Business: Greg reminded committees to get answers to the Outreach Questions to Barbara Miner by the end of this month, and that the next Lenten Soup Supper is to be provided by CE and R&O. Council members are still asked to look at our website and bring ideas to the meeting, possibly by asking our young people for comments.
Rev. Steve’s Report: He is busy with confirmation meetings, his Sunday morning series on the wilderness, Lenten Wednesday meetings, the Thursday noon study group, and appearing on the TV show, “Another Voice”. The Visitation Committee held a successful gathering for Mayflower members at Mission Ridge.
The meeting was adjourned and Rev. Steve closed with a prayer.
